We are living through one of the most consequential moments in our movement’s history. Across the country, the pressure is mounting. Authoritarian forces are consolidating power and attacking the rights of Black, Brown, Indigenous, immigrant, LGBTQ+, and working-class communities. They are dismantling our democracy and trying to silence the very organizations built to fight back.
The infrastructure our movement has spent decades building is under real pressure from political attacks and funding contraction. The forces working against us are deeply coordinated and operating at a financial scale that dwarfs our own. But we refuse to lead from fear, and all across our network State Tables are rising with clarity and determination. We are ready to do more than just hold the line. We are ready to build something new.
We are proud to share Strong Enough to Win, our strategic roadmap for 2026 through 2032. This roadmap was forged in partnership with leaders across 22 State Tables and 7 Emerging Tables. It is grounded in the tenacity and wisdom of organizers who know what it takes to win big, lasting change.
Why This Roadmap Matters Right Now
For more than twenty years, the State Voices Network has been an engine for shared power in state-based organizing. We have registered millions of voters and won critical policy fights. This roadmap marks an evolution of that work. It is a sharpening of our focus to match the needs of the pivotal moment we are in.
At its core, this plan is built on a simple conviction. We are not here to do everything. We are here to make State Tables strong enough to win. Being “strong enough” means coordinating campaigns that transform people’s lives; protecting our communities from those who would strip away their rights; and sustaining this fight for the long arc ahead. That’s why we are supporting State Tables in developing 10-year power-building plans to drive strategy through 2032 and beyond.
The Four Pillars of Our Strength
To reach our vision of a multiracial democracy, we are focusing our energy on four strategic pillars. These are the foundations of our power:
- Passionate Alignment: We help Tables align their leadership at the deepest level. When we are synced in our mission and tactics, we move faster and have an impact that outlasts any single political moment.
- Strategic Coordination: We provide the tools to maximize collective power. We are building a “YES” coalition that gives people something to fight toward, not just something to fight against.
- Impact-Driven Engagement: Winning requires data and tools. We provide the analytics that help Tables move targeted groups of people to higher levels of action. This turns basebuilding power into measurable impact.
- Effective Systems: We invest in the financial health and safety of our Tables. By building solid operating foundations, we ensure our network stays resilient through political pressure and legal scrutiny.
From Resistance to Transformation
We have already seen how our strategy translates to building lasting power. In Georgia, we moved rapid-response resources to help ProGeorgia fight back against a massive voter purge. In Alabama, we helped Alabama Forward get ahead of copycat voter suppression bills to defeat extreme measures before they could pass. In Nebraska, our support helped the Nebraska Table nearly triple its budget and become a permanent backbone for grassroots organizing across the state.
But fighting back is not enough. Our communities need an irresistible future. We want a world where power is rooted in community and where democratic life is an act of joy and possibility.
We are not rebuilding our old, broken democracy. We are creating something brand new, a future where every community has real power and the freedom to thrive. And we have already begun to put our strategy into action.
Our 2026 Count Every Vote campaign is our plan to protect the election this year in order to reshape our democracy for years to come. Our network is keenly focused on protecting elections from the ballot box to certification, connecting three pillars to defend voters across the states:
- Vote Early, Vote Loud – We’re coordinating early voting, voter education, and large-scale GOTV in the critical final 60 days before the election.
- Power and Protection at the Polls – We’re deploying trained poll workers, observers, and volunteers to support voters and catch problems in real time and leading Election Protection programs across the country .
- Free and Fair Elections – We’re preparing State Tables to respond fast when certification, counting, or disinformation threats emerge.
