This Brave Nation

This Brave Nation -- an exciting video collaboration between The Nation and Brave New Films -- is releasing the first in a series of intergenerational conversations on June 1st, 2008. It'll be a kind of "living history" project that gives you a chance to sit in on short discussions between the most intelligent, passionate, feisty, and creative voices of one generation of activists, journalists, artists and thinkers in conversation with the next. The premiere features Van Jones, co-founder and president of the Ella Baker Center for Human Rights, who has most recently taken the green-collar movement national with Green For All. The series will continue for five weeks with dialogues between well-known figures, culminating with a live event in Los Angeles on July 13, 2008. Get a front row seat for charged conversations about loves, lives, politics and history between such luminaries as Dolores Huerta and Bonnie Raitt, Pete Seeger and Majora Carter, Anthony Romero and Ava Lowery, and Tom Hayden and Naomi Klein. Each discussion will be produced as both a five-minute viral video and a 30-minute mini-documentary, which will be part of a DVD box set. You can pre-order the box set now, and Ella Baker Center will get a donation for each DVD sold through this link: http://bravenation.com/?utm_source=ellab (Click on the Pre-Order DVD link to go to the online store) This Brave Nation is also sponsoring a contest in which you can nominate local heroes making a difference in communities coast to coast.
